Shamsa B. Ali, Director and Teacher
I am Ms. Shamsa and I am the Middle School teacher. I have been a teacher for 28 years and 3 of those have been here at Avicenna. I like teaching Middle School because their attitudes keep me on my toes. I really like reading and working with youth in the community. I also enjoy gardening. My favorite Sahaba is Khadija Bint Khuwalid (r.a.) because she was the first Muslim.
Asha Hassan, School Secretary
My name is Ms. Asha and I am the school secretary. As school secretary, I am the first face parents and students see when they walk through our doors and I spend most of my day supporting teachers as they work. I enjoy photography and Investigation Discovery. When I need self-care time, I spend as much time as possible with my friends. My favorite Sahaba is Abu Bakr As Siddiq (r.a.) because he was patient and kind.
Farah Arman, Teacher
My name is Ms. Farah and I dislike summarizing myself. I’ve been a teacher at Avicenna for 3 years and what I like most about teaching is setting the foundations for reading. When I am not teaching, I am reading books or cooking. To take care of myself, I like to go on walks. My favorite Sahaba is Asma bint Abu Bakr (r.a.) because I admire her strength.
Barka Mohamed, Teacher
I am Luul Mohamed. However, everyone calls me Barka. I love to read and enjoy cooking. I enjoy spending my spare time playing with my kids. The most important thing about me is that I love to help everyone and giving charity is my top priority. My favorite self care activity is spending time with my kids. This keeps me happy and stress free. My favorite Sahaba is Umar ibn al- khattab (r.a.). His love for Allah (swt) and Islam was so great. He (r.a.) was not scared to proclaim his religion, while everyone else was.
